Art & Wine Walk
The 3rd Annual Georgetown Art & Wine Walk gave us a chance to promote the work of local artists who participated in the juried art show as well as those who are part of our Transformer Art Initiative! The Art & Wine Walk was created by Deb Smith and Alan Sherlock of the Art Harbor Gallery, promoted by the Georgetown Business Association, and supported by numerous businesses and individuals. More than 170 pieces were entered into the show. The panel of jurors chose 97 to participate.
Among the “human walking art” demonstrators was Dell Omega Grant, Chair of the Georgetown Arts & Cultural Commission (GACC). Carrying a sweetgrass basket sewn by Angela Manigault and holding a staff carved by Thomas Williams, She strolled along Front Street as though she had stepped out of a painting by Georgetown-based artist Natalie Daise.
One of Angela Manigault’s sweetgrass baskets, currently on display in the George Hotel, is also featured on a nearby transformer box. The Commission recently covered 19 transformer boxes with artwork, and a map of all the installations will be available in the coming weeks.
