Where the arts take root, tourism and community vitality follow! The Georgetown Arts & Cultural Commission (GACC) launched the Transforming Georgetown Initiative in 2023 to turn the City’s green electrical transformer boxes—once mundane and highly visible—into dynamic, engaging works of public art. This creative endeavor invited artists and school children living in Georgetown County or with regional roots to help design the 18 transformer boxes throughout the historic district, turning functional infrastructure into a vibrant open-air gallery.
